Is this idea Right or Wrong

Post by AkilaBandara » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:11 am

Hey guys,
I am using SLT ADSL connection now. I got the Entree package. It can download 1.5GB for RS.500 but by a Dialog dongle it can download 2GB for Rs490.The speed of the ADSL connection is 1mbps and the dialog connection is 3.5mbps .I think to choose the dialog dongle connection and can cancel the SLT adsl connection.

Please tell me Is it a good idea or a bad idea?

I used Entree before then Got Home Package. Since I can use Net freely with it.

I think if you can it's better to buy Home package since you get 20GB per month and It will be easy for you to for your Studies since you have more Capacity.

SLT ADSL is superb in terms of line quality. No mobile broadband internet carrier can match the line quality of a wired carrier. This is true anywhere in the world. Fibre optics (which are popular in west) are also considered wired and the fastest/best quality up to date. The 2nd best is distributing through copper wires. However this is very expensive since copper has become one of the most expensive metals nowadays. The advantage for the SLT is that they already have a copper wired network for their telephone users. So it is a win-win situation for both SLT and the SLT telephone user to have ADSL at home.

Believe my word. I have used almost all mobile internet connections (Dialog, Mobitel, Airtel and now Etisalat) and I have already added some topics to discuss pros and cons on these.

Sri Lanka Telecom ADSL review
Dialog Broadband review
Mobitel Broadband Review
Airtel Broadband Review
Etisalat Broadband Review

Out of all mobile carriers, Mobitel connection is the best. Airtel is the worst. I paid Rs. 480 per month and it was impossible to surf internet with that. I'm trying on Etisalat these days. Line quality is superb. But it is still early to say anything as they are still new. We will have to wait for few months to see how their routers work when overloaded.

Eventhough I would like to try these new connections, I will never even think to disconnect my SLT ADSL connection. It is the best in terms of line quality. SLT/Mobitel service is not up to the standards of a private company. But there is nobody to compete with them at the moment.
