Post by Mysoogal » Sat Jan 01, 2011 8:54 am

ever wanted to stream torrents ? do you hate to wait ?

i am here to provide you information and send you on your way to a future filled with wonderful torrent streaming :D

so how can i stream torrents is that even possible ? most will say NO way dude wheres my car ! but listen to me dude its been around for over 2 years in another country and in another language, its called Xunlei Client and its Chinese but do not worry its easy to use.

lets make this simple, just install this
http://down.sandai.net/thunder7/Thunder7.1.4.2104.exe

just click whatever you seee it will install all the things you need,

when you install it, open it, now go into bitsnoop.com and look up a torrent with high amount of seeds just download that torrent and xunlei will automatically load it into the client, now just press ok let it sort out the connection and you will see the speed pickup, when the speed is fast enough a little window will popup on the right side and just press that blue link in the window, it will popup a media player and will start playing the torrent file :D

thats it.

here is video http://vimeo.com/18061650

xunlei also supports ed2k edonkey network, you know amule links :D

if you need help pm me ! ill send you screens shoots of death lol

Happy new eve whatever im really not sure is it new year yet haha

Great!. This is something I was missing. But how is this going to affect the goals of torrent protocol?. The serverless P2P architecture?. Aren't we selfish if we do this?.

 Thanks for that utorrent tip :D .

I read that Xulnei still uploads files.

But could not figure out how can I stream (from 0th byte to the end) with uTorrent 3.0 . i have been using file view to assign priorities for files.

Are there special files called "streaming bittorrents" ?. I tried googling but could not find a file other than news. :)

I read about Bittorrent DNA. Asus also uses it for distributing their driver files. ;) . Good for asus (although it has nothing to do with streaming)

Thanks

----
Sorry, what i am having is 2.2 . I did not look at the version number. Now downloading 3.0 alpha. :D

hope that helps lol

utorrent, disable forced streaming, this basically means the first chunks will not get downloaded first and thus during your streaming experience video will just stop and pause until the data is downloaded.

yes xunlei used to be very bad not uploading anything, but they changed their minds and made a great improvement in adding edonkey with bit-torrent and DHT all working as one xunlei now is respected downloading tool, so you load torrent, but not many seeders, xunlei starts to look for the file in DHT or edonkey networks looking for the same HASHED file and starts downloading from them from here it reconnects them and you can start streaming. pretty smart i might say

oh!. sorry that u had to take ur time for drawing it.i know basics about bt protocol. thats y asked about reading it as a stream. what if a piece is not available in swarm.what hapens to streaming then?. :)
the best answer for such a question would be 'find something else that works'.
thanks for the post anyway

sorry but i hear this to many times :D , the people that have 100% completed download and sharing have all the pieces, the problem starts when all completed peers stop sharing and leave out the people which haven't the completed block sharing between each other but none have the completed file , you see why many people misunderstand here :D as long as there is at least 1 completed seeder with full file it doesn't care about if bocks are missing because at the end of the day you will either get that missing block from other users which have completed download and seeding now to you. my mind really hurts now :D

right now I'm testing a really cool Idea , i have taken 390 mb avi and used 7zip to compress it into 365mb and split into 4 parts 102mb each, i will use utorrent to seed through the DHT network, the most interesting thing about this streaming test is, in utorrents options, there is a section which allows executions of external programs when download completes, i will use 7zip command line and automatically execute the uncompress the file and open with vlc thus streaming torrent which is compressed in zip and highly compressed with x264 lol saved bandwidth around 22mb from 350mb needed to fully stream without the compressed idea :D
