ROBOT.LK

Hello friends,

After 2+ years of free run, we have started to test some text ads in ROBOT.LK to see whether it can help us to earn some revenue with the aim to increase the number of donations. For the recent past we were only able to manage two donations and this is not enough. We have lots of talented guys around who are lacking financial resources which we hope to address in our capacity.

If we earn good revenue (say $100 a month), we will be arranging little competitions (mostly a set of questions in mathematics/physics/electronics) where the winner(s) will earn computers, development units, components, multi metres, soldering irons, etc...

I'm still not sure whether this will work or not. But one of our supporting partners wanted this to try. We will be testing almost all advertising agents like AdSense, etc.... We are still not certain which one to use. This will be totally handled by SevenZero, so if you have any idea/recommendation just PM him. I hope he will take extra care on making things as simpler as possible. You guys know that I'm not good with these things

I think, Competition (for gifts) is a good idea to promote EC.

i think thats a good idea too i wish i have a job to donate neo

I always wanted to donate ROBOT.LK ever since I saw ROBOT.LK for the first time.

But I didn't get enough money to donate EC. If I had it was only 1$ or 5$. Donating such is embarrassing such a great web site. So I didn't.

ROBOT.LK doesn't require such donations to be honest. We can run ROBOT.LK without anything. But when I had a discussion last week with few friends, some thought it would be good to have some ads running so we can expand donations, etc...

But there is something really important we all need to concentrate. We need more active users and I'm running out of ideas. More questions, more answers, more articles, more knowledge... what we need is that.

The main reason we see is, Sri Lankans are not yet got used to share knowledge with forums. Since IT community in Sri Lanka is still small (I guess not more than 50,000?) it will take more time to get people on ROBOT.LK.

One of my idea was to increase number of people on our facebook group. But that of cause stops somewhere around 1700+. I thought we can go up to say 30K to 40K. I have seen some groups with such a lot of members but with very less knowledge. So shall we divide our team to few promotion groups and assign some targets? How do you think. We need fresh ideas

By the way,I already added about 270+ FB friends of mine from about 400+ I have. I added as much as I could by typing letters from A to Z. There is no way I know to select the rest of them that I missed.

It was a problem for me as well. However I have added almost all by typing 'aa', 'ab'... 'az' then 'ba' , 'bb' and so on. There is no other way. FB is too bad on that.

hmm! Thats a good idea! I can promote ROBOT.LK in our school! Also i can add all my school friends to the group! Il do it asap! im eager to help this community!
