My notebook model is Asus-X550LA. The touch pad is not detected on Linux. I tried with several versions of Ubuntu & Linux Mint. I updated the Ubuntu on my laptop. But the problem has not been solved. But other models of Asus Notebooks are working with Ubuntu. Does anybody know how to fix that error?

I contacted the Asus support center. They informed me that Asus does not do related test on Linux & does not provide drivers for Ubuntu. because they can't give a certain answer.

What I have to do? What are the Notebook models that are fully compatible with Linux?

Thanks in advance.

There are two interesting discussions going on in Redhat and Ubuntu forums. Particularly the Redhat one seems interesting.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1110011

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... g/1314198/

I would suggest HP, Dell or TOSHIBA for anyone who is going to buy a laptop. These are mostly compatible with Ubuntu.
