LED driver using 555

Hi all, I have reviewed a complete analog LED driver circuit like bellow.
Any idea how could I modify this circuit to use 555 ? I mean not using a square wave generator.
I know I could use this. But the problem is 555 capacitor charging curve is not linear like it should be
in the square wave generator.
Any ideas?
