Hi Friends,
i want to know about fllowing item(in photo).

this item has been used in power supply unit of computer,CD-DVD Player,TV,...
Also i have seen this communication port(connect to PC) of UPS.
What is item and function(action) of this item?

It's an optocoupler. Or an Opto-Isolator. Its task is to isolate the potentially hazardous circuitary from the sensitive PC digital circuitaries.
An electronic engineer will be able to give a more detailed description.
