To improve traffic, you can use Google AdWords. We use it very often for commercial sites. As Google is the best search engine in the world, AdWords are very effective. However it is not free. You'll have to invest at least $30 - 50 to get some good response. However if there is no good product(s) or services, etc... it is quite useless. For example, putting AdWords to populate a blog (to increase AdSense hits for example) is rather a foolish idea.

I think when Nipuna asked me about getting more traffic, my answer was undoubtedly about putting unique content and increase blog articles. It will take time for Google crawl and list your site on top search queries. But if your contents are competitive in terms of uniqueness & keyword density, you have a good chance.
