Hello guys,

What is the difference between Arithmetic and Mathematics? Personally I can't stand working with numbers so always thought they were interchangeable.

If anyone has knowledge please help me,

Thanks a lot
Andy Charles

Another What Is algebra? type question of you but without a spam link this time which is very good to see ;)

arithmetic
(1) the branch of mathematics that deals with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division,
(2) the use of numbers in calculations

mathematics
(1) the study of the relationships among numbers, shapes, and quantities,
(2) it uses signs, symbols, and proofs and includes arithmetic, algebra, calculus, geometry, and trigonometry.

Another good explanation can be found at http://www.cut-the-knot.org/WhatIs/What ... etic.shtml.
