Yes It is Slow. Even I had 1GB RAM It was Slow and I think it is Now too Now I have 2GB RAM but i think it is still slow.

Memory could be the problem for you since it could be hard to run 2 OSs at the same time with that amount of memory. However you could give a try. I guess you would run multiple OSs with multi-boot more happier than with virtualization.
Of cause yes. You will be able to test anything unsafe there. First you can install virtual box and then the 2nd OS you need. Secondly take a copy of the 2nd OS (which is a file with extension VDI). Then you can do any experiment on the new OS. If there is any problem, just replace the VDI with the backup which brings everything back to normal.Neo,
