Modern disks are integrated with a technology called S.M.A.R.T which let you to
query about the hard disk's helth.
There are software packages like Acronis Drive monitor the hard disk helth. You probablly don't need
these sounds to get that information. The S.M.A.R.T technology is more precise than the information
from those sounds. So I suggest to use S.M.A.R.T monitoring opensource tool for that purpose.

Sandun, he was referring OLD hard disks.
Anyway if someone forgets to monitor the drive with SMART and still getting sounds as such, then those conclusions on those mechanical noises are still valid.
In new hard disks with SMART, you will hardly hear such sounds. Modern ones are silent killers if you don't use SMART.???? ????? ??? ???? ????? "?? ??" ???? ???? ?????
