I taught that it was an offer. Even we can't order less than 10 pcs.
ST means a brand name like microchip.
8051, ARM7 , PIC16 , PIC32 are core architectures. Where in the case of 8051 many
chip companies are manufacture it as a core.Micromint, TI, Analog Devices , ST ,ATMEL ,etc etc.
The original core was intel51 microcontroller.Other companies have cloned it. So they could implement
it and have binary compatibility.
Because of that, unlike PIC, it's cheaper. Have a big competition among the companies who
manufacture it.They are trying to manufacture it cheaper and more cheaper. Even you could find a
implementation less than one dollar.
