There are few reasons that I didn't want to put a chat system on ROBOT.LK. If there are guys who joined us in August, 2009 might have seen a shout box (similar to an integrated chat system). However we have found the users are getting their problems sorted out through chat. What is the benefit of a forum if the guys are getting personal help? We have seen that ROBOT.LK was transforming to a individual tuition class. So we have decided to remove the chat system which brings more than 10K user per months from around the globe. So it's a good decision.

Also we found a member who wanted personal contacts of an experienced engineer to get personal assistance. I had to decide on stopping PM for this as well. Since I need people to get help publicly. This will benefit 1000s of others as well. If someone needs individual training, better find a tuition class. ROBOT.LK needs to be a common place to everyone where we all value the need for sharing without limitations.

We were discussing about what would be better for two of our domains. And that is nothing about having a chat for ROBOT.LK members.

One time I did this PMing thing, And he wasn't an Experienced Engineer and I only tried to make a contact to be a friend of him.

Here is the thread I replied about it

Since you are talking about an experienced engineer i think that wasn't me the one who did the wrong thing. :)

Oops this is going to suit me too. Are you talking about me? Because i always get advices from you :)

By the way Neo is always right. And we must listen to him. If he get mad at us what we will do he is the owner of robot.lk and he will ban all of us by one click ;)

Who did that is irrelevant. What matters is whether you get help only through the forum. Whoever helps personally is doing non other than an individual class which is a waste of time where he/she would have instead helped 1000s of people at once. If he/she sees a benefit in that, I have no problem with it. Definitely I have no time to waste.

He he... no... I'm just telling what would happen.

Say you want to know what is volatile and I explain you over a chat. Then another user needs to know and what should I do .Keep wasting time? So that's not going to work. The advantage of a forum is that. We talk publicly. If a person ask the same question (without searching first) we only need to give him the link we have already discussed on it.

No I'm not always right. Even I don't want to be like that. I just want to keep this running as a help for you guys as much as possible. I can have fun on the time I spend on ROBOT.LK. You know that I don't get any material benefit out of this. Just a spiritual satisfaction. So I need to spend my time in the most advantageous way.

May be you guys are still too young to understand :?:

Oops!
I didn't expect private help from experts. I only though about communication.

BTW, I forgot about that, Neo don't let us to use ROBOT.LK as a private communication media.
Verry Sorry.

Any way,
I don't think it is a good idea to start a commiunity site, Because these are very hard to manage to a persion who like Neo with his busy life style.

I have some small experience with my OLD site. It was very hard to manage without being online 24x7x365 :)
