How to calculate Bitrate and Download speed?

Post by Nandika » Tue May 01, 2012 4:18 pm

Hi Friends,

I want to know about Bit rate and data transfer rate.
Bit rate expressed in [bit] bps/Kbps/Mbps and data transfer rate expressed in[byte] Bps/KBps/MBps.

Can we see relationship this two?
explain, how to convert bps to Bps..
i have tried using this,
2.56 Mbps=[2.56*1000000 bps]/8*1024=312.5 KBps
am I correct?
If I wrong, please calculate this step by step and POSTREPLY.

Thanks

According to the SI standard,
1 Kbps = 1000 bps
I not too familiar with (1KiB = 1024 Bytes) IROBOT.LK standard at all and never seen this in any specification over the many years. So we can completely ignore this 1024 number in bit level and only consider 1000.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_rate_units

2.56 Mbps = 2.56 x 103 Kbps
To convert to Bytes,
x bps = x/8 Bps
Similarly,
2.56 Mbps = (2.56 x 103 / 8) KBps = 320 KBps
