How to buy from Ebay

Post by Rksk » Sat Mar 03, 2012 6:16 pm

Hi friends,

one of my friends asked me to buy some electronic items for him from internet.

I think that, Ebay is the best place for that. But I don't know how to find a good seller for this work.

I think you guys have experiences with ebay, so you will able to help me on that.

Thank you.

I am ready to help :)

When buying do like this.

1. Find a top rated seller or if can't find a good rated seller.
2. Read his review so you can find out is he a good seller for real.

Then buy :)

Or you can post the links here so I can review them and tell you.

Thanks

  1. Just go to eBay. Create an account, it's free.
  2. Create a PayPal account. You will need to have a credit card or debit card to create a PayPal account. Alternatively you can use Sampath Web Card which can be taken without any complications. Once you have a eBay and PayPal account, you are ready to go.
  3. Login to eBay.com and search the product you want. eBay provides buyer protection. That means, if you have not received the items, eBay is going handle it very seriously.
  4. That's it. Nothing complicated.
  5. As Nipuna stated, you can post required items here so we can do a search for you.

Thank you for replying Nipuna & SevenZero

I already have completed basic steps for that. I have an ebay account, a paypal account & a HNB debit card.

My friend interested on a "HD MINI MEDIA PLAYER". I searched on ebay & found below item is good for him. But the seller's own website's price has increased with $10 than their ebay store. Both give free shipping.
[*He wants the HDMI cable, so price is increased with $10 for it.]

ebay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/230691296852?ss ... 1423.l2649
their website - http://www.tomtop.com/mini-1080p-hd-hdm ... black.html

what can be the reason for this price difference? do you trust this seller?

Thankz

I can't think of the price difference.

And by the way, We don't need to care of his personnel web site's price. eBay price is all we need.

He is not a top rates seller but seems he has low bad feedbacks.

Seems he is good but make sure to buy only from eBay because if you do so then you are safe.

No idea of the difference. Could be a promotion on eBay for this item.

47281 rating is not low ;). I bought few items from Tomtop. He is good seller.

That's true. Better go through eBay.

@ ZevenZero
Yeah I also think he is good ;)

@ RKSK
For me I still didn't pay taxes for any thing I bought ;)

But there are taxes for expensive items. I've seen some people who had to pay taxes for phones etc..

But most items we get via mail without a problem.

Tell the seller to mark the price lower than the actual price when shipping because when the price is low you don't have to pay taxes. ;)

As Nipuna stated, customs might retain your parcel if they suspect it as an expensive item.
what about mobile phones?
I don't think you'll be able to order mobile phones online. According to my memory, you need to approval from TRC to clear mobile phones from customs. Better call customs or TRC before ordering.

See this TRC link.

But to let you guys know, I ordered 2 used phones ;) And they came to my house without a problem ;)

But even though I got them, I do believe that we will have to pay taxes if custom retain them. So I am now not buying phones from eBay, I knew when I was buying those too but I bought them anyway.

Thanks
