Change Date/Time format in Ubuntu Linux

Post by Saman » Fri Jan 06, 2012 4:47 am

Though there are several method to do this on terminal (locale, etc...), here is an easy method to fix date/time format issue. In my case I didn't like the MM/DD/YYYY format (US) ans wanted to change it to DD/MM/YYYY (UK). Especially on software like Thunderbird, it is a mess to have it on an unfamiliar format.
  1. Go to System Settings -> Language Support
  2. Go to Regional Formats tab
  3. Select the method you want (in my case English (United Kingdom) and then click on "Apply system-wide"
  4. Restart machine
