Would you have designed a digital voltmeter using a PIC or AVR microcontroller?
I'm pretty sure some of you have. Well you can find open source projects and code
on the internet easily.
But today I'm going to introduce a useful single chip which do the same thing.
It's TC7106 from microchip.
Here is the diagram for a simple voltmeter.
All the facts and images are from the datasheet, so the source is the datasheet.
http://www.datasheetdir.com/TC7106+download
it's principle is based on dual slope principle.
FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrating_ADC
basically it will integrate the input voltage to measure, and then it will integrate the -Vref till voltage comes
to zero. In that way measuring the time we could have the value of measuring voltage.
so like wise we could have the input voltage,
Hope you could have some fun with this device as well as your industry needs.

I think you try the online monitoring facility with your security system that will help you to get alert on your mobile when some one try to enter in your premises without your permission. And also the security monitoring company monitor your security while you are out of home.
