TDA7386 - 4 x 40W QUAD BRIDGE CAR RADIO AMPLIFIER

Post by Rksk » Sun Nov 27, 2011 11:50 pm

DESCRIPTION
The TDA7386 is a new technology class AB Audio Power Amplifier in Flexiwatt 25 package designed for high end car radio applications. Thanks to the fully complementary PNP/NPN output configuration the TDA7386 allows a rail to rail output voltage swing with no need of bootstrap capacitors. The extremely reduced components count allows very compact sets.

Looks like an excellent amplifier. Do you have any idea on the price in local market?

One friend said it's about LKR600-800. (I did't checked it)

It's a very good price and I expect it to have very good quality. The circuit diagram in the datasheet is much more simpler (When I look the one in the image, I thought the huge condenser pack is really not needed if we could use a good regulator such as 7812).

Thanks a lot for posting such valuable information.

you cannot use 7812 regulator because it can only diliver 1A of current as maximum. but you can use a regulator like LM338.
Because TDA7386 is a powerful amplifire circuit you can get I think about 5A as peak output current. If you fail to supply much current for the IC you can hear lot of distortion and clipping when amplifire trying to output low frequencies. And you must use parallel capacitors at the power supply because you can reduce the ripple of supply and it is very important to place small capasitors like 4 x 0.1uf as close as possible to IC's power supply pins for decoupling purpose. And if you can use inductor filters at the power supply rails you will end up with very professional design as car radio manufacturers do.I think for the inductor you can use 500uH/7A toroidal type.Simply add it series with power supply.
