We got some messages in Srilanka like this......

"Dont attend any calls from 7888308001, 9316048121, 9876266211, 9888854137, 9876715587 these numbers come in red colors. U may get brain hamrage due to high frequency. 27 persons died just recieving the call. Watch dd news to confirm. Please inform all your friends and relatives soon - its urgent "

so many people got many problems in mind & selling their phones now a days.this is like a cancer in here.

I feel that it may B a fake message. But wanna know about the truth.

What are the wawes we use in cell phones?
can they harm us?
what is the main range that cell phones use in Srilanka?(is it in harmfull range)

please tell me the technical side of this story........?

I also think as same.I don't know more about cell phone technology.I think that cellular phones use Micro waves.Cell phone wave range is low & it never harm any one.It is definitely a joke.

Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) of Sri Lanka confirmed this is a hoax. However since G-sparkZ stated Microwaves are low frequesncy, I thought I would better add the Electromagnetic Spectrum.

Now you can clearly notice, microwaves (also used in GSM) are not as low as the frequencies used in Radio & TV transmissions.

If you take microwave ovens, they work usually in 2450 MHz.
A microwave oven works by passing non-ionizing microwave radiation, usually at a frequency of 2.45 gigahertz (GHz)—a wavelength of 122 millimetres (4.80 in)—through the food. Microwave radiation is between common radio and infrared frequencies. Water, fat, and other substances in the food absorb energy from the microwaves in a process called dielectric heating. Many molecules (such as those of water) are electric dipoles, meaning that they have a positive charge at one end and a negative charge at the other, and therefore rotate as they try to align themselves with the alternating electric field of the microwaves. This molecular movement represents heat which is then dispersed as the rotating molecules hit other molecules and put them into motion.
In simple terms, microwaves can vibrate the molecules within an object and due to friction, the molecules are getting heated immensely within a short period of time. Every microwave can do this up to a certain ratio. The GSM spectrum (frequency range) is tested to be non-harmful (in normal cases) if used for short period of time. However, if you try to use it for hours, it may effect your brain just as a microwave oven cooks food. :D

Technically, it is impossible to do any hazard by a SMS or a call. But if you use the mobile phone to talk many hours, it can be hazardous to your life.
