Dear Friend ,

You can buy PIC micro controllers from Pettah. Now they are very low in price. One of the very famous PIC which available in Pettah is 16F877A. You can buy this for the price of Rs. 500 /=

I have found few places , where PIC programmers available. I bought one from Milton , Moratuwa , few years ago.
But you can easily make a PIC programmer from your own with few electronic components.

following article , which was published by Neo explained about a good PIC programmer , which can make with simple electronic components , which are available in Sri Lanka.

https://robot.lk/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1576

This is very good one , because you do not want to give separate power to programmer and it take power from serial port .

It is better to buy a project board for doing experiments. Then you do not want to solder the componets and you can easily make your circuit by connecting componets together with small wires. And components also can re use for a long time. Good project boards are available at SilverStone in Colombo - 02. If you buy a poor quality project board you may come accross dificuties when fixing large IC's like 40 pin PIC 16F877. Becaue in poor quality project boards , surface is not fully flat.

And I think Neo has answer most of the software stuff in your question

So get a start !!!! If you stuck some where just drop your problem in robot.lk. We are always with you and willing to help at any time . Good Luck !!!!!!
