How to read DOCX files in Microsoft Office 2003

Post by Neo » Wed Sep 02, 2009 2:25 am

With the latest release of Microsoft Office 2007, the default file format in Microsoft Word has changed to XML format. In doing so, Microsoft Word documents now have a .docx file extension instead of the old .doc extension. As a result, older versions of Microsoft Word can't read the new format.

However there is a solution. Microsoft has a Compatability Pack which will allow your older version of Microsoft Office read the new .docx file format. Adding this on to your existing, older version of Microsoft Office is quite easy. Just download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack, and install it. Then the next time you open up a .docx file, you will be good to go!
