Most of the computers in world run on Windows. No doubt. But the worst thing is about 20% of your internet bandwidth is reserved by Microsoft for few reasons.
- Windows Automatic Updates rely on this reserved bandwidth.
- Fast loading Microsoft Websites
- Sending Error Reports
- Online Help support in Microsoft Office
Here is the way to recover that 20% and make your PC to use the full bandwidth of the Internet connection.
- Start menu -> Run
- Type gpedit.msc -> This opens the Policy Editor
- Go to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> QOS Packet Scheduler
- On Right hand side double-click Limit reservable bandwidth
- On Setting Tab, it says "Not Configured" and notice that on the Explain Tab it says By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection
- Select Enabled
- Change Bandwidth limit (%) to 0 (Zero)
- Click Ok
Enjoy!
