Help on applying for University Admission

Post by Rksk » Fri Jul 05, 2013 2:13 am

Hi,

I want your help again. This is the time to apply for University Admission based on 2012 A/L Examination. As we discussed here, I'm going to apply for Computer Science. But the confusion is how to make the order of preference the courses of study and the universities.

I'm going to put Computer Science in the list and university order of it will be UCSC and University of Ruhuna. (I don't think University of Jaffna is good place for me :D )

But I don't know how to order others and what should I include/exclude form this list. I'll list some other IT related courses, their universities and minimum Z-score levels in 2011 A/L (Colombo & my district Ratnapura). Please help me to order them.

Also I think Aptitude test is a risk. Because if I failed it, I'll be nothing.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.
Rksk.

Here is my order of preference. When it comes to computer science I have given priority for both UoC and UoM. Both universities are having a good environment for educational and anti-ragging.

Computer Science - UCSC
Information Technology - University of Moratuwa
Information Technology & Management - University of Moratuwa

Computer Science - University of Ruhuna

What is the wrong with computer science in University of Ruhuna?
I'm asking because I really don't know. Is that Ragging? ,if so it's not
ethical to discuss this matter even. CS in Ruhuna have good lecture board however.

When talking about risks, always take managed and calculated risks.
If you have past papers , that's a good method of calculating the risks. If you could
score above 80% then BINGO. Those tests are almost on IQ.
if you remove your lucky part and if you could see still there are winning chances over
80%, it says go and take it. However always a little luck influences. But don't bug me
if that works other way around.

When talking about Risks there are three people in this world.
1.Risk averse.
2. Risk neutral
3. Risk seeking.
If you belongs to the middle category then you are most successful.
A successful person does not belongs to any of above. He just try to
manage risks. However most of people in our real life belongs to one of
3 above category. Simply there's not a life without risks. And stupid people
dies seeking risks[those people who wait till a car for road cross :P people
like me ;) ].

Have a analysis of the past people who faced to those exams. Take it into
account. You'll could construct a clear picture then. calculate your chances.

are you satisfy with the subject contents of each faculty offers to you?
However that satisfications will last around 11/2 years. At least one subject would become
b0ring for sure. Let's see.

I took Aptitude test as a risk with only my opinion. As I found, if I'm selected for a course which has a Aptitude test and if I failed to pass it (I don't mean I can't do it, just meant everything doesn't depend on skills), I wont get admission for any government university in this year.
Also they (UGC or University) never inform us about aptitude tests privately. We've to find about them from news papers, register for them and write. If I missed it for any reason :?:
I wanted to know others' comments.

Thank you.

If you have fear of aptitude tests then you can definitely go for online degree like international MBA from Thunderbird laureate. It will give you advantage of getting a degree from a reputable school and also you don’t have to under aptitude tests too.
