Hi RAT...
It's good to know that the samples had reached you without a problem.

I have started a new topic under Sinhala section with a list of companies that I know who are sending samples.
See List of companies that send free samples to Sri Lanka.

I would like that list to grow as when you receive samples.

FYI:
We use two high precision (± 0.5C) temperature sensors that are very cheep (Rs. 50) in the local market. LM34 and LM35. Both of these need to be connected to ADC. So no complications over i2c bus and less accuracy as ± 2C.

LM35 - Precision Centigrade Temperature Sensor
Datasheet - http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM35.pdf

LM34 - Precision Fahrenheit Temperature Sensor
Datasheet - http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM34.pdf

Both are very easy to use and install. Since LM35 is Centigrade, it is widely used and highly available.
You can give it a try on these as well.

Also, do you guys know that National Semiconductors (Famous for LM series ICs) is now owned by Texas Instruments. They were once the main revivals in the industry :)

Thanks Neo for your help :) :) 8-) 8-) 8-)

I think I have done enough experiments with LM 35 dz. 8-) 8-) 8-)
I ordered this because it would be a good opportunity for me to get familiar with I2C bus too (as a amateur experimenting)
And mostly it was just FREE.

I gotta question :?: :?: :?: why Microchip say
Microchip currently only accepts online sample orders from registered business or university email addresses. We currently do not accept orders from generic ISP accounts.

I have already included the reason. Our guys have misused the service. Guys have put different addresses/names and ordered quite a lot of micros/other components by putting 1000s of pieces as their project requirement. So they were the sending the samples straight away with high expectations on a bigger order in near future (But later they have realised that it is just a fraud - no mass quantity orders by individuals)

It is really okay to order 1 or 2 free samples for experiments by people like you. You guys are the people who will join the industry one day and introduce the good products that you have been experimenting throughout the past for bigger projects. So I think they have clearly identified this and made that restriction without blacklisting the whole country.
university email address
You are going to have one soon ;)

You know RAT, those guys know what's happening in Sri Lanka better than you and me. Electronic engineers especially from Mora and Pera are working in most of those reputed semiconductor companies and they are not mad to ban such great academias.

Basically all Sri Lankan state universities are very high in education standards since all students must pass a highly competitive exam to join them. No one is allowed to enter for money or anything. This is why Sri Lankan professionals have maintained a very good reputation around the world.

Sri Lankans are considered highly intelligent for some unknown reason. Even with lack of resources, Sri Lanka's literacy rate is 91%+ where as other countries in the region has far more less rate than that. For example, India: 74%, Pakistan: 58%, Bangladesh: 53%, Nepal: 56%, Iran: 82%. This is one reason for west to be more interested in Sri Lanka + brain drain.
