If that is the case, there is a way to get the code from the phone's permanent memory. You can use NSS(Nemesis Service Suite) to read the appropriate PM field and get the code back. (I haven't tried this my self). Or flashing the phone with Nokia's own software pheonix will remedy the problem. Flashing with pheonix with easy, you can even flash dead phones(result from a bad flash) with it. Google for "Pheonix slayer" and you will get a result from blogsopt, get pheonix from there. Use "navifirm" to download the right version of the firmware for your mobile. After that flashing is a piece of cake. :)

When downloading the firmware, be sure that it is the same version or higher version as the phone's existing software. Otherwise it would lead to a dead phone due to security restrictions on BB5 platform.

By the way, is it just that you cannot use some other SIM other than the SIM that was in the phone by the time it was locked, or cannot use any SIM at all?

I copied the following guide from a web site, and be careful when giving your IMEI to any service offering free codes. They might be harvesting IMEI numbers so they can sell it to some one else. (Yes, this happens)

Code: Select all

These newer BB5 phones require software to reset the security code:

Nokia 3250, Nokia 6125, Nokia 6131, Nokia 6270, Nokia 6280, Nokia 6630, Nokia 6680, Nokia 6681, Nokia 6682, Nokia 7370, Nokia E50, Nokia E60, Nokia E61, Nokia E62, Nokia E70, Nokia N71, Nokia N72, Nokia N73, Nokia N80, Nokia N90, Nokia N91, Nokia N92, Nokia N93,

Nokia BB5 security code reset procedure:

Connect your phone via USB cable in pc mode & install the drivers for your cell phone provided with Nokia pc suite, then exit pc suite.
    Then install Nemesis service suite
Select USB virtual drive during installation (in case of nokia 6120c)(for nokia 5700 use diamond protection)
    After installation open it
    Click on scan button
    Click on phone info
    Click on scan
Click on permanent memory tab given on right bottom of application
    Click on read
It will read the permanent memory file & write it to the disk
Your pm file will be located in the path:
    C:\program files\nss\backup\pm\356252*********.pm
Open that pm file in notepad
Now scroll until field [308] and on the 5th record your security code is saved
    Look for something like 5=31313131310000000000
Remove all the "3" digits and it will look like this:
5= 11111 0000000000 now the first five digits is the code "11111".
Note :- Use this at entirely your own risk, we cannot be held responsible for any phone damage or data loss on your phone or computer.

Thanks a Lot Buddy. It worked on My Friends Phone. :D :D :D

Hi Friend

Now. My Phone is working. Here is what i did.

First I removed the Battery and SIM card then Pushed the Power Button for 10 Seconds to discharge phone's inside power.

Then I put my phone without battery and SIM card for 3 days. Then Turned ON without SIM card then selected the Phone Mode. Phone worked Then I inserted the SIM and it worked as before.

Then I turned Off the Phone and Inserted the Chip it's a 1GB M2 Chip.
Then the Error came again.

Then I did as above again but this time i kept the phone only 30 mins. Then My phone working Again.
So what can I do? I can't use phone with M2.

Thanks

It can be due to something wrong with the Memory card or the card controller in the worst case. Try another card and see.

I had a similar issue with my Sony camera. I was using a brand new Sony Pro Duo card and after using it for several months, the camera was saying the card is unreadable. I had to manage it with internal memory. When I plug it to PC, it works just fine. So there was no reason for me to suspect the incompatibility of timing between camera and the card.

Later I bought a new Pro Duo card and camera accepted it just fine. Now it works for years. So I suggest you to use a new M2 card before trying anything advance. These memory cards use protocols where precision timing is required. Small electrical failures that change timing can produce abnormal behaviours as such on different devices.

This topic has two issues. One is a firmware update issue and the other is a memory card issue. This is the problem in going out of topic and trying to sort out several problems on the same topic. The topic title is a model of a mobile phone and it is not representing any issue along with that. It wasted quite a lot of time to guess your problem.

Though, it sounds like a firmware issue, I guess it is a hardware issue in your main board. The easy way to sort this out is by replacing with a new main board. If you are unable to spend money on that, then you will have to find a phone repair shop in town.

You need to understand that it is not possible for anyone to repair your phone online. The members can only try giving you suggestions. As members had already tried to help you, I don't see any one can help you further online. So the next step is up to you to decide on the phone. I have just given you a clue to replace the main board.

In my experience (about 15 years), Sony Ericsson (Earlier Ericsson) were the worst phones I have used. Those had given me loads of problem like issues in firmware, motherboard, keypad, battery, etc... Never used a Sony Ericsson phone for more than 2 years. Nokia phones worked for me the most. So whenever you go for a smart phone go for Nokia, BlackBerry & iPhone. Others are not doing good with Smart Phones at the moment. This is my personal idea. May be there are happy users with Sony Ericsson.

If I simplify my answer.... It seems there is a serious problem with your main board which you can't fix with firmware updates. Hardware errors can't be fixed with software updates. Buy a main board and fix it yourself or take your phone to a repair shop.
