Re-flashing a phone will not remove the lock. You have to calculate the unlock information for the phone and write it to the phone's permanent memory where the lock information is held.

6270 has a BB5 lock. Means it is not possible to unlock the phone for free(unless you have a friend with right equipment ;) ).
As for my knowledge, this phone can only be unlock with the unlocking code bought from the network its locked to, or use something like JAF box to unlock. JAF is a thirdparty made software and hardware combination. The unlocking is done by connecting the phone to the JAF box via the FBUS of the phone. (FBUS interface is located under the battery of the mobile).

So, the easiest way to unlock a BB5 is to take it to place where unlocking is done. This should not cost more than 1500 in local market. But it might depend on the phone model.Becase JAF charges at different rates for models. :)

Now it is asking for the 5 digit security code right?.

If that is the case, there is a way to get the code from the phone's permanent memory. You can use NSS(Nemesis Service Suite) to read the appropriate PM field and get the code back. (I haven't tried this my self). Or flashing the phone with Nokia's own software pheonix will remedy the problem. Flashing with pheonix with easy, you can even flash dead phones(result from a bad flash) with it. Google for "Pheonix slayer" and you will get a result from blogsopt, get pheonix from there. Use "navifirm" to download the right version of the firmware for your mobile. After that flashing is a piece of cake. :)

When downloading the firmware, be sure that it is the same version or higher version as the phone's existing software. Otherwise it would lead to a dead phone due to security restrictions on BB5 platform.

By the way, is it just that you cannot use some other SIM other than the SIM that was in the phone by the time it was locked, or cannot use any SIM at all?

I copied the following guide from a web site, and be careful when giving your IMEI to any service offering free codes. They might be harvesting IMEI numbers so they can sell it to some one else. (Yes, this happens)

Code: Select all

These newer BB5 phones require software to reset the security code:

Nokia 3250, Nokia 6125, Nokia 6131, Nokia 6270, Nokia 6280, Nokia 6630, Nokia 6680, Nokia 6681, Nokia 6682, Nokia 7370, Nokia E50, Nokia E60, Nokia E61, Nokia E62, Nokia E70, Nokia N71, Nokia N72, Nokia N73, Nokia N80, Nokia N90, Nokia N91, Nokia N92, Nokia N93,

Nokia BB5 security code reset procedure:

Connect your phone via USB cable in pc mode & install the drivers for your cell phone provided with Nokia pc suite, then exit pc suite.
    Then install Nemesis service suite
Select USB virtual drive during installation (in case of nokia 6120c)(for nokia 5700 use diamond protection)
    After installation open it
    Click on scan button
    Click on phone info
    Click on scan
Click on permanent memory tab given on right bottom of application
    Click on read
It will read the permanent memory file & write it to the disk
Your pm file will be located in the path:
    C:\program files\nss\backup\pm\356252*********.pm
Open that pm file in notepad
Now scroll until field [308] and on the 5th record your security code is saved
    Look for something like 5=31313131310000000000
Remove all the "3" digits and it will look like this:
5= 11111 0000000000 now the first five digits is the code "11111".
Note :- Use this at entirely your own risk, we cannot be held responsible for any phone damage or data loss on your phone or computer.

I am not familiar with SE, i have never used any. Why is it not possible to flash with XS++?(Like to know the exact problem you faced with it). Do you have any log created by XS++?. If you have those logs, send it to me. I will have a look.

If simple flashing does not help. It might be having problems with hardware. Check if you can access any debug logs or information on the device.

The following steps bring up the service menu. See if something is there.
"ON STAND-BY SCREEN FOLLOW THESE STEPS"
1. ROTATE JOG DIAL ONCE UP(dont rotate one circlular rotation, just move the jog-dial up, once!!)
2. NOW PRESS STAR
3. NOW ROTATE JOG DIAL DOWN TWICE( do not rotate twice in circular, just move THE JOG-DIAL in downward twice!!)
4. AGAIN PRESS STAR
5.NOW ROTATE JOG DIAL ONCE DOWN( just move jog dial dowanward once..)
6. PRESS STAR
