Magento discussing website good for Google Adsense?

Post by Nipuna » Sat Dec 24, 2011 9:20 am

Hi

Suddenly I got an idea to make a website and add Adsense to it. ;) I already has an Adsense account so getting one isn't hard ;) (It's 2.5 years old)

I already has some sites but they are not getting any traffic.

So when I was thinking I got an idea to make a site that discuss about Magento stuff. So I am thinking to make that and add my personal experiences with Magento to it.

Since I made lot of posts here I will copy them first to my site. (It won't be a problem since those posts are mine.) Then I will add new ones writing by me and I also add them here too.

So can you give me some ideas,

Like is my idea good? Or not?
How my site must look like? Themes etc etc
What to use to make the site (CMSes like Joomla or WordPress or any other?)
Where to host the site? (I have a free hosting account at X10hosting is it good?)Since I need to load my site quickly. I am not planing to buy a domain or a hosting right now. For starters I will use free ones
And I am also thinking to add my portfolio and my freelance stuff to it too in another tab in the same site. Is it a good idea?

And all the ideas you can think about. (You can also give me some more ideas to make websites so I can consider making more sites in another fields.)

PS: I will be doing this when I have time (I mean as a side work I won't be dedicated to it since I have lot of studies to do)

Thanks

This is obviously a very good idea. As long as you have your own text, you have a good chance to get visitors to your pages and if your text has helped them, they'll click on an ad :) This is what AdSense guys called unique content. Having duplicate content on your site will give you bad reputation + no traffic from search engines. So I think this time with unique content, you will get it going. Good luck!

Make sure you copy only your posts. That doesn't matter. However since the contents are already here in EC, I don't think those will benefit.

Rksk has some experience on this. So please ask him about free and commercial hosting.

Sorry fro late to reply

01. This is a very good idea, if we have good english knowladge and writing skills.

02. you can copy your posts in ROBOT.LK with a link to your original post. for new articles, 1st post them in your site then post in ROBOT.LK with a link to original article. (I think, this wont do anybad for EC)

03. Free domains are available in many places. dot tk is now limiting free usage, they tell we have to renew domains even free ones. CO.CC is free only for one year. I havent used CO.CZ, UK.TO, US.TO, ORG.ORG,... ect. Try them.

04. Free hosting is always bad. I've used many, but never happy with anyone. If you run on free host, you have to keep backups daily. There are many very cheap paid hosting plans, you can try them too.

My free hosting site - www.ekhost.tk
Cheap paid hosting - www.lankapartnerhost.com

It's OK and thanks

But what I can't think is what to use to build my site? a CMS like Joomla or WordPress or normal HTML+CSS+PHP

As I know Joomla is mostly for large sites and WordPress is for small ones and blogs also. If I use a CMS I'll have to find a CMS supporting hosting too. As I already know X10hostings does that. And if I use HTML+CSS+PHP I'll have to learn them since I don't know them well. But I like to learn since I am going to maintain my site in my free time so there won't be much time for that.

Any one can help me with that too? since My site is going to be a simple one that only has articles and nothing to download or upload except images.

Thanks

I think wordpress is good for you. It's easy to handle & most of freehosters support it with their auto installer.
