Need help To Understand Pigeonhole Principle

Post by Nipuna » Wed Jun 29, 2011 1:22 pm

I get what is Pigeonhole Principal. It says "If there are n holes and we have n+1 pigeon, Then for a one hole there are more than one Pigeon "

That can even Understand by a 5 Year Kid.

But the Questions I can see on papers, I don't get them. :?

Have you seen this PPT (http://www.bit.lk/information/tv/s1/2003/IT1102a.ppt). I accidentally found it while searching for the source of the question. It has a list of recommended books which cover the syllabus. I guess a part of the question is missing (Number of students in the class, etc...).

This site also have a good question and a nice explanation. http://math.stackexchange.com/questions ... e-question

Is it possible for you to self study this? I guess if you have the reference books, you can do that (If you have the courage).

Of cause mathematics is easy when you learn it properly. I have already told you the importance of systematic learning. These maths parts need better guidance. I guess people like UdithaM and Herath would agree with me. Since we already know the time is running out, could you start topics for each subject/section that is not clear to you. We might use all our power on helping you. But you will agree that almost all of us would not be able to give quick attention during work ours. But all will try their best which might help to other students as well. My memory is too low on the topic. I'll PM others to try to help you.

Thanks You Very Much

I need some Clearance in Java also but I don't understand how to ask it. I don't even understand how to build a question to ask Here. :?

oh, Wait I remembered one I don't get what is Java collection Framework. I saw some when searching as i can see it is like Linux Directory List. Like Home->usr and so on.

Wiki Articles are Great but their appearance isn't Good so sometimes I don't read them. They have Great Knowledge source I know that and I really like people who behind Wiki they are doing great work. But Wiki articles are almost only filled with Letters so So many of them are not interesting to read.

I made a New Thread Here about Java.

Second part,
There are 7 days in a week. Then we have 7 pigeonholes. So the answer should be 29.

Third part,
There are 12 months in a year. So we have 12 pigeonholes. In order to have at least 2 students born in the same month we should have 13 students in the class.

I hope that these are correct. Neo is welcome to correct them just in case ;)
